Sunway Lagoon - Adventureland

Since it was already end of December and yours truly here had a pair of Sunway Lagoon tickets still un utilized, my little girl and I made a trip there a couple of days ago.

It was quite a dreary morning and for almost the whole day , it was drizzling non stop, but it did not stop us having fun.

Outside, Sunway Lagoon, the first thing that caught my eye was that they already had a Nickelodeon Store opened in anticipation for the new change in the theme park, which in case you do not know , will be a part of a Nickelodeon theme park. Soon... very, very soon we will be able to meet Sponge Bob, Patrick, Dora, Ninja Turtles and so on in Sunway Lagoon!!!

Now isn't that exciting!!! I know I am excited!!!

1600 Pandas in Malaysia

Yours truly was invited by fellow blogger friends to join in in welcoming 1600 pandas. When I first heard that I was wondering how was it going to be like. Were we going to have big statues around? Or was it a collection of pandas ranging from soft toys to paintings etc?

Everyone knows how a panda look like right? They are huge, bumbling, lazy but sooooo cute. They are also very endangered. There were only 1600 pandas left in the world when French artist Paulo Grangeon created his own 1600 papier mache pandas.

Chinatown, Singapore

Chinatown is definitely one of the must-visit cultural enclaves for visitors who are visiting Singapore.

I love heading there whenever I find myself in Singapore to go in search for low priced and very affordable souvenirs for myself, my friends and family.

It is an amazing plethora of bustling, colourful mix of old and new, from family-run goldsmiths and medicine halls, to stores selling fabrics and Chinese kopi tiams or restaurants.

I am told that if you’re looking for a unique place to stay in this very fascinating area, you might like to check out these dreamy boutique hotels here.

The Scarlet is a bold and beautiful hotel located along Erskine Road, and features luxurious and opulent decors.

Next to it is The Club, a newly white-washed building that dates back to the 1900s, renovated beautifully in stark white colours.  The Club plays on an east-meets-west theme and gives a new perspective on Singapore’s rich history and heritage which leave visitors awestruck...

If you think you might prefer combination of old world architecture and designer interiors, check out the Hotel 1929 and New Majestic Hotel, both housed in shop-houses that have been carefully conserved. Hotel 1929 even features a selection of unusual and classic chairs from the owner’s private collection, as well as 20th century photos of olden Singapore. For a taste of the “New Asia” genre, make sure you check out the New Majestic Hotel.

From the open concept lobby with vintage Compton fans and furniture, to its dramatic pool that floats above the restaurant, New Majestic Hotel is a stunning and eclectic blend of heritage chic.

I like to stop by at the Chinatown Heritage Centre when ever I am there to check out what I can do as well as get a cultural introduction of this amazing enclave. The Chinatown Heritage Centre is housed in three beautifully restored shophouses along Pagoda Street, which you cannot miss when you come up from the MRT and just walk straight along the road selling all those thrifty souvenirs you can bring home for your friends and family... You definitely can learn more about Chinatown’s history and development via the photographs  and exhibits and more, allowing you to retrace the journeys made by Singapore’s earliest Chinese migrants.

If you love food, Smith Street, one of the main roads here in Chinatown, is close to vehicles  after dark. You can find the Chinatown Food Street here, where  you can enjoy alfresco dining at this hawker centre that serves up a wide variety of all the best local dishes.
For a shopping experience that blends traditional Chinese heritage with contemporary offerings, the Chinatown stretch is a must-visit on your trip to Singapore.

The child acrobats of Orchard Road

While passing by busy Orchard Road admiring the Christmas decorations, yours truly and her little girl came across a small crowd that gathered somewhere outside Wisma Atria.

Being a kay poh chee or Miss Busybody, curiosity got the better of me and I excused myself and half pushed my way through to a small opening I could find in the crowd to be mind boggled at the sight of two little girls sinuously bending unnaturally in all directions.

Super Trees at Gardens by the Bay

My little girl and I arrived at the Gardens by the Bay via the MRT at Bayfront, so we walked past the Dragonfly lake which is hard to miss considering the huge steel sculpture of the dragonfly there.

I am told that if you have ample time, you can also walk along the boardwalk to discover the many birds and insects that have made this area their home.

Christmas on Orchard Road

shopping in Singapore

Despite the crowd which reminds me of shopping districts of Tokyo, I always think going to Orchard Road during the Christmas season is a treat for all. I may be a Muslim and I might no longer pray to Jesus, but being a Muslim, Jesus is still an important figure in the religion and besides, I have grown up as a Christian and Christmas always and will forever fascinate me.

Besides, I love all festive seasons and it is pretty much well known that Orchard Road lights up most prettily during Christmas.

While you cannot see any snow glistening or sleigh bells ringing in sunny Singapore during Christmas,  the main shopping street of Orchard Road is decked up in it's best to create an enchanting wonderland.

Shopping Singapore

Join me here as I took a short trip down Orchard Road on the evening/ night I stayed over in Singapore , which was just after my cruise on the Costa Victoria. It was a choice as I wanted to share with my little girl the feeling of Christmas . But since I was only staying one night in Singapore, everything was pretty rushed as I tried to squeeze in as much as I can into our 1 day and 1 night itinerary in Singapore..

Our little trip here on Orchard Road began from alighting from the Orchard MRT on the North South Line, and when we came up to Orchard Road, it was from ION Orchard...

Orchard Road Christmas 2014

The ION Orchard's theme for this year was "Make Christmas last longer then a Sugar Rush" We found a huge hollow Christmas tree outside the mall which was white and covered with candy canes and pretty red baubles...

Christmas on a great street

Ngee Ann City , one of my favourite malls along Orchard Road which I can never resist a visit every time I am in Singapore had a yummilicious Christmas tree made our of macaroons!!!

Macaroons

Across the road at the Paragon, their theme was Discover the Magical Christmas at Paragon... there was a lovely huge Christmas tree outside in green with golden reindeers prancing around it and lovely baubles lined in ribbon form around the Christmas tree

The Atria's theme was "WAnt the world (again) this Christmas " . It was bedecked in silver ribbon bows outside...

The Robinson's had a lovely starry Christmas tree...

And at 313Somerset, adjoining the Orchard Central, we came across the Nutcracker's Lodge, which my little girl found fascinating as well... The theme was "Discover magic in the little moments together" and in the nutcracker world....with lots of purple in play...

Orchard Central's theme was Christmas Dreamland -Escape to a place of Christmas Magic where pink, gold, unicorns and fairies ruled. My little girl was definitely enthralled by the decorations here...

We made a wish at the wishing well....

magical creatures

and petted some pink and white unicorns around the mall...

Across the road,  Centrepoint's theme was "all your Christmas shopping leads to Paris" thus a part Christmas tree and part Eiffel Tower entrance. I did not go in the mall.. only admired it from across the street from the Orchard Central.

I did not have the opportunity to walk down all of the two-kilometre long Orchard Road later in the night but it is said to be decked out in  and elegant show lighting hues of blue and white.

We left Orchard Road from Orchard Central via the Somerset MRT to our next destination... Gardens by the Bay...

All aboard the Costa Victoria cruise ship

Costa Victoria cruise ship

Yours truly here was blessed to have won a free cruise aboard the lovely Costa Victoria ship a couple of months back. It was a cause for celebration as I have never ever gotten on a ship before, despite being pretty reasonably traveled and it was one of my bucket list to really go on a cruise- desperately.

And now that dream has became a realization, from years of anticipation... errmm... ok.. ok, I am not trying a comping contest here or anything like that.

Let me tell you  a little bit about the Costa Victoria...Costa Victoria is a Victoria-class cruise ship owned and operated by Costa Crociere. She debuted in 1996 and was designed to reflect the spirit of Italy. Her beautiful features include the panoramic Concorde Plaza, an indoor pool, the ultramodern Pompei Spa, and the seven deck Planetarium Atrium

LEGOLAND Water Park

While in LEGOLAND, do not forget to get the combo tickets and check out the Water Park as well. It would be even better if you were visiting LEGOLAND for 2 days and then you can truly make full use and enjoy it to the maximum.

The interactive and fully LEGO® themed Water Park may look small, and so I thought because I was too tired to play the slides as I was cramping all my activities there in just about 5 hours, which was a near impossible task (the slides really make up a pretty big area too) but it has more than 20 unique water based rides and over 70 LEGO models among its many attractions.

It is said to be the largest LEGOLAND Water Park and the first to have a second gate, which means it can be enjoyed separately or in combination with the Theme Park.

Yuletide in the Flower Dome @ Gardens by the Bay

christmas wonderland at gardens by the bay

Yours truly was at the Gardens by the Bay with her little one a couple of weeks ago and well, they were having some Christmas light ups there for the Christmas season, and so I took my little girl there to experience the garden trail Christmas.

It sure was quite an amazing display of Christmas decorations and winter plants , and it was really cold inside the flower dome, obviously.

Supposedly the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay redefines the experience of celebrating Christmas in the tropics.

The amazing light sculptures both inside the Flower Dome here as well as the whole Gardens by the Bay are the spellbinding Luminarie lights handcrafted and flown in all the way from Italy

National Day of Romania celebration at the Residence at Ritz Carlton

So yours truly was invited to attend the National Day of Romania with the diplomats and their associates at the Residences at Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur

Naturally, I was excited, as of the many Central and Eastern European countries, Romania has been and still is a country that fascinates me. It is a middle sized country but it is the largest country in the region of South Eastern Europe.

LUMIAIR ENCHANTS AUDIENCE AT PREMIER NIGHT!

Cirque Sensation

Yours truly was one of the few lucky people in the media who were definitely enchanted by LumiAir -A Cirque Sensation when it made it's debut at the Amphitheatre , Sunway Lagoon a few days ago.

The show featured grand cirque style sequences with big apparatus for spectacularly breathtaking tricks in the air and was dramatically touching with acrobatic ballet scenes, leaving everyone at the edge of their seats. It really was an unforgettable experience as I went there expecting just some nice acrobatics like many others but getting so much more then what I expected..
